Not So Wordless Wednesday

George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens.

On a recent trip to Alexandria, VA over Labor Day weekend my husband and I toured Mount Vernon. We were in town for a wedding that my husband was a groomsman in. The wedding took place at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant.

If I had one word to describe the plantation home and estate of George Washington it would be breathtaking. I'm a lover of old homes and old things and this was old stuff overload. I absolutely loved it.

The majestic tree in this picture that stands next to the mansion is a pecan tree (the reason I took this shot). I had no idea pecan trees could grow to be so large. This one is around 140 feet tall and is around 160 years old!
